AI is becoming part of game production, but where does it create real value? That’s the question Yoan Aleksiev, Tech Art Engineering Director at Room 8 Group, will explore during his upcoming session at DevGAMM Gdańsk 2026.

In “Filling the gaps: human-in-the-loop tech art tooling in the age of AI,” Yoan will discuss how tech art increasingly sits at the intersection of tools, pipelines, creative workflows, and AI-assisted production.
As game development grows across platforms, disciplines, and technologies, the challenge is no longer simply building more tools or adding AI wherever possible. Instead, it is about identifying the right production gaps and solving them in ways that remain scalable, reliable, and creatively flexible.
Drawing on real production experience across multiple projects and environments, Yoan will explore how production data, cross-disciplinary feedback, and pipeline analysis can help reveal where tools are truly needed—and how to design them to reduce complexity rather than amplify it.
The session will also explore how AI and LLMs can support coding, debugging, prototyping, documentation, data analysis, and visual workflows, while highlighting the importance of keeping humans in the loop.
As Yoan puts it, AI creates the most value when it helps remove friction from the work people are already doing. The talk focuses on a human-in-the-loop approach, where AI acts as a support layer while artists and developers remain in control of creative decisions, output quality, and production outcomes.
