How has game development changed for YOU in the past 15 years? And what will define the next chapter?
Today, Room 8 Group asks those questions as it launches ’15 Years in the Game‘: a year-long campaign exploring the past, present, and future of game development.
From studio heads and senior execs to artists, developers and industry experts, everyone is invited to share their unique perspective. The many and varied recollections, reflections and predictions gathered will be published in a series of conversations, interviews, and other content, running right across the next 12 months.
As an active participant in and shaper of gamedev culture for 15 years, Room 8 Group is ideally placed to facilitate that conversation. Founded in 2011 with just 30 people, it has grown steadily into an end-to-end strategic partner in external game development. Today it brings together more than 1,100 creatives across Europe, North America and South America, supporting teams in over 30 countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Sweden, South Korea and Brazil.
Working across game development, technology, art, trailers, and QA, our company partners with the teams behind many of the industry’s most successful AAA, AA and mobile titles. We have built long-term partnerships with leading publishers and developers—including Microsoft, Nintendo, Ubisoft, Sony, Gameloft, Take-Two and EA—contributing to award-winning franchises such as Call of Duty, Diablo, Assassin’s Creed, Star Trek, The Walking Dead and Doctor Who, and many more.
That evolution is the starting point for the conversations at the heart of the campaign.

“For a studio with a body of IP and a pipeline to fill, the right partnership unlocks the ability to do more, speeding up releases and delivering at the highest quality,” said CEO Juanita Draude. “The best co-development partnerships allow studios to stay focused on the creative vision behind their IP while trusted partners reliably deliver critical parts of production. That’s how great games are built today, and it will become even more important as development continues to evolve.”
One key issue the campaign won’t shy away from is the current elephant in the room: AI.
We’re very aware of the resistance to AI tools across parts of the games industry and the player community alike. The key is using new technology the right way—not as a replacement for human ingenuity and imagination, but as a force multiplier.
Julien Proux, Chief Content Officer at Room 8 Group, says:

“That’s where the industry’s next competitive advantage lies. Throughout this campaign, we’ll explore how AI and other emerging technologies are reshaping the way games are created, what that means for studios and creators, and how the industry can turn innovation into lasting value.”
“That creative tension is exactly the sort of conversation we’ll explore,” adds Draude. “We want diverse perspectives and applications from across the industry, because we’re all shaping the future together.”
The campaign’s centerpiece is a recurring video series called “The Games That Changed the Industry,” with Room 8 Group also bringing the conversation directly to industry events throughout the year.

Underpinning the campaign is a single guiding philosophy.
“As technology evolves, and production grows more global, interconnected and complex, our responsibility isn’t simply to adopt new tools,” says Draude. “It’s to help our partners innovate with confidence while providing the transparency, quality and control that studios need to deliver amazing experiences to passionate players.”
“The industry is evolving rapidly, and co-development studios will play a pivotal part in what comes next,” she adds. “This campaign will capture that shift. The next 15 years start here.”
