Co-development and porting for We Happy Few

We worked with our partner Compulsion Games to co-develop and port We Happy Few, which was fully released in 2018.  

We Happy Few is a dystopian action-adventure game with survival and roguelike elements. Set in an alternate 1960s England, the game follows three protagonists who attempt to escape a society obsessed with conformity and the use of a hallucinogenic drug named Joy. Players explore procedurally generated environments, engage in melee combat, crafting, and stealth gameplay, while managing survival elements like hunger, thirst, and sleep. The gameplay emphasizes blending in with the drug-addled population while uncovering dark secrets hidden beneath the cheerful facade.  

We optimized the open-world game for PlayStation 4 with extended and customized engine code. We implemented rendering updates to ensure the game could be displayed on PS4 while maintaining 30fps and avoiding long load times. As a result, we made sure the game was fully compliant with the PS3 Technical Requirements Checklist.
