We are looking for a Senior Level Designer to craft immersive open-world experiences in Unreal Engine 5. You’ll design engaging levels, refine gameplay flow, and seamlessly integrate mechanics with narrative.
Superpowers you have:
- 6+ years of professional experience in Level Design on AA/AAA PC or console titles.
- At least one shipped AA/AAA title in a Level Design role.
- Proven expertise in Unreal Engine 5, including, World Partition, Blueprint scripting, Landscape tools and performance-conscious layouting.
- Expertise in building both open world and linear environments.
- Exceptional sense of pacing, rhythm, and gameplay flow within mission and level structures.
- Strong understanding of mission design fundamentals and moment-to-moment gameplay, with the ability to shape both through layout, encounters, and environmental storytelling.
- High level of spatial thinking, with a keen eye for environmental readability, player navigation, and traversal clarity.
- Experienced in rapid prototyping, playtesting, and iterative development based on team feedback.
- Experienced in creating and maintaining documentation, maps, flowcharts, reference boards and pacing diagrams.
- Comfortable working within and contributing to naming conventions, internal pipelines, and cross-department workflows.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a strong command of both verbal and written English.

- Proactive mindset and strong ownership over level design work.
- Experience designing combat encounters and AI-driven gameplay within open environments.
- Experience designing traversal gameplay sections.
- Background in narrative-driven games with environmental storytelling.
- Familiarity with modular design, procedural tools, or world-building pipelines.
- Basic knowledge of Unreal Engine Sequencer.
- Basic knowledge of Unreal Engine modeling tools.
- Basic knowledge of performance optimization, streaming zones, and gameplay metrics.
- Comfort presenting level ideas and documentation to internal and external stakeholders.
Becoming part of Room 8 Group, you will:
- Design, build, and iterate on large open levels that support 360 approach, exploration, combat, narrative, and player agency.
- Collaborate with Game Designers to connect core systems and mechanics with world layout and progression.
- Collaborate with Environment Artists to shape visually stunning and performative 3D spaces.
- Collaborate with Tech Artists to develop tools that will improve Level Design workflow.
- Own levels from concept through shipping, including layout, greybox, gameplay implementation (scripting, prefab setup and placement), and final polish.
- Design, develop and maintain simple gameplay prototypes that can be used as a starting point for a new mechanic.
- Drive and contribute to playtesting, feedback loops, and iteration cycles across the team.
- Support and mentor junior designers, setting high standards for quality and collaboration.
- Maintain detailed and accessible level design documentation that communicates layout, goals, pacing, and player experience.
