Velorum Publishing: Showcasing our artist’s talents beyond the studio

We are thrilled to back the creative pursuits of our talented artists, who consistently bring a mix of creativity and commitment to their work. A standout example is Artem Shapoval, our Project Lead Character Concept Artist at Room 8 Studio (by Room 8 Group), who established Velorum Publishing, a Ukrainian publishing house, alongside a group of friends.

This initiative took shape in the summer of 2021, sparked by Artem and his friends’ shared enthusiasm for classic literature. They aimed to introduce these timeless works in novel and engaging ways. The Velorum team is anchored by Kateryna Shedel in the role of CEO, with Artem Shapoval at the helm of illustrations and communications. Ksenia Demchenko contributes her expertise in illustrations, communications, and promotions, supported by a talented group of advisors and team members.

Several key moments stand out for me and my team in creating this project. Our publishing house is a creative hub where we explore and execute projects in unique styles and techniques, reigniting the artistic passions that initially inspired our careers. We’re passionate about uncovering and reinterpreting Ukrainian literature and designing books that highlight the essence and style of these works. For us, books are a cherished retreat. We also aim to celebrate and spread Ukrainian art and graphics richness, leveraging our resources to enhance appreciation. Looking ahead, we plan to translate and curate content to introduce it to Western audiences, further broadening its reach and impact.
